lyrics

Across the desert
Random piles
Of bricks
Lie in the sun

In haphazard heaps
Too heavy
To be carried
Further

The loads we share
Weigh us down
Things we pile up
On top of ourselves

The pain we cause
Feel inside
The walls we build
To try and create order

When there is none
On the inside or out
No rest
While carrying these loads

Across the desert
Where others
Have dropped them
At our feet

Too unbearable
To go on with
Can’t be erased
From our hearts

Or denied
Resting in the shade
A drink of water
A glance into the distance

Helps us let go
Release our grip
On the things we’ve carried
For far too long

Too much of our lives
Let them drop to the ground
Form a new pile of bricks
That we can walk away from

Leave them
Out in the middle of nowhere
Where the desert is harsh
The skies are beautiful, and it rains

Let them become
Just another pile of stuff
Lying in the sun
As we move on

With a lighter load
